Hello,
Is there anything other than a fight that could explain the sudden missing of the tip of one of my strawberries' leg? Or was it probably a fight? The missing piece is very small, like not even the entirety of the leg segment, just 1/16-1/8" but noticeable enough because it's flat vs its usual pointy-ness. This straw has molted 2-3x in my care so it definitely happened recently.
Suddenly missing tip of leg?

Toe tips breaking off is common. This will be repaired during the next molt.

And it's also normal that the wound is a dark gray? I dipped his legs in water to get the sand off to get a better look.
I've had crabs who came to me with entire limbs or segments missing but this is my first mid-segment loss!

Yes, it is common for wounds to darken to black. Their exposed flesh hardens off to prevent infection.
