I got my hermit crab at a fair. On his first night at my house, he ate and drank normally. I even gave him a bath  ! Then, the next night, he would not eat or drink, and he would not come out of his co co cabana :crabblush: . I am EXTREMELY worried that something is wrong :( . Since then, I have given him all the necessities and things a crab may want. NO USE!! I am not sure if Mel (name of crab) is sick, or only comes out at night, or is afraid :( of me. Please send an expert to talk back to me. If my Mel dies, I don't know what I will do. :crabcry:

It is very normal for new crabs to take time to rest. Bathing is not necessary and can stress them out.

Check out the care guides and make sure that you have good conditions for them (heat & humidity, substrate, food and waters are all appropriate).

They are mostly nocturnal and will bury underground for long periods of time to destress and molt.

Yes, he is afraid of you. Unfortunately. In 10 years, he will still be afraid of you. They are prey animals and we are giant predators to them.
