16. Please describe the emergency situation in detail. My crab is switching shells. He was very active earlier. However, now he has his smaller shell situated in his larger shell that he is trying to transition to. Is this normal? Once he situated his smaller shell in the larger one, he stopped moving and the shells are just together now, sitting.

Is he naked? Or is he actually in the smaller shell that's in the bigger shell? The 2 shells could be stuck together. If he's naked though, he needs to be re-shelled asap, and you should fill out the rest of the template so we can get a better look into your tank conditions.

Did he put on a small shell and sit down in the larger one?

Probably not a big deal so long as he isn’t stuck.

Crabs remove one shell to put the other on, so if he backed in fully clothed, he is using it as a hide!

I agree with wodesorel. I have a REALLY tiny crab who likes to stick her face in a massive shell(at least,massive for her) and sleep there. I think she likes hiding in it!
