Since you've come to the emergency forum, we know you want a fast answer to your question. In order for us to figure out the problem as quickly as possible, we ask that you answer the following questions as best you can. Some of them may seem odd, but they're all designed to give us the information we need to give you a good solution for your problem. The things in the [ brackets ] are there to make this post easier to read once submitted. Thanks!

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it?
I currently changed my substrate to a mix of all purpose sand and coco fiber. (about 4:1 ratio)(all purpose sand came straight from the bag)

2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read?
I use a gadget that gives humidity and temp. They are at the middle of the back about 4cm from the substrate.

3. Is a heat source used in the tank? If so, what?
I use a 20w heat lamp.

4. What types of water are available (fresh or salt) and how is the water treated (what brands of dechlorinator or salt mix and what ratio is used to mix it)?
Fresh and salt water are available and I use water from my water purifier and I use a salt that is meant for hermit crabs.( I know I shouldn't use salt that is sold for hermit crabs. Am going to change it as soon as possible)

5. What kinds of food do you feed and how often is it replaced?
I used to give commercial food but know I give it natural foods. To give an example, today I gave tomatoes, grapes, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, meal worms, and rasberries.

6. How long have you had the crab and what species is it, if known?
It is a purple pincher, have had it for abt 2~3 years now.

7. Has your crab molted, and how long ago did it happen?
This is what worries me the most. I really never ever have seen the hermit crab molt in all these years.

8. What type of housing are the crabs kept in, what size is it and what kind of lid is on the housing?
I had a 7 gallon but upgraded to. A 13 gallon glass tank and a plastic lid that has lots of holes. (I cover it with saran wrap to keep the humidity in)

9. How many crabs are in the tank and about how large are they?
1 crab, shell opening is 1inch.

10. How many extra shells are usually kept in the tank, if any?
I have 4 natural shells.

11. Have there been any fumes or chemicals near the crabitat recently?
Now that I think abt it from the new tank, there's was a smell of silicon. (I rinsed the tank beforehand)(for the scent to go sway I left it out a couple days, but it wouldn't dissapear completely)

12. How often do you clean the tank and how?
abt every half a year? Change the substrate and wash shells and wood and all that.

13. Are sponges used in the water dish? If so, how are they cleaned?
Nope, no sponges in the dish.

14. Has anything new been added to your crabitat recently?
New substrate, new tank, new food dish, led light and I think that's about it.

15. Is there any other information you would like to share that might be helpful (anything that is regularly part of your crab care, playtime, bathing, etc.)?
I don't think so

16. Please describe the emergency situation in detail.
my hermit crab ahs been on top of a wood piece and hasn't moved.. It's been in the same position for a day now.. It hasn't budged a bit. Starting to get real worried about it...

I’ve had crabs just crawl up high and die there. Does it move around any if you come close or pick it up?

It's clinged to the wood.. Even if I try to pick it up, it won't budge

So the good news is it’s still alive. Sounds to me like it’s just in a grumpy phase. Give it a few days.

It's probably fine, although in your tank you might want to add a calcium source and try to avoid cleaning the tank a often as that, substrate changes are stressful and unnecessary. I was doing sub changes every 2 years when I had a small tank but now that I've got a bigger one I think it's just not worth it.
