found a lost leg!!!

Post by pcmm03 » Sun Dec 29, 2024 11:35 pm

i opened my crabs tank to add something in there and found a leg. it’s one of the smaller ones. i have 2 crabs and both of them are underground right now (they were up climbing around maybe 10 minutes ago) but im wondering if i should dig around for them to see if they’re okay? or should i just wait for them to come back up on their own?
i haven’t seen them fighting and there are extra shells in the tank. temp and humidity have been pretty consistent and i haven’t seen them display any sluggish or odd behavior recently. my bigger one finished molting earlier this month, and the smaller one at the beginning of november.

Is the leg hollow or solid? That will tell you if it's a leftover from a previous molt, or if it fell off of a crab.

Can you fill out the emergency form, just in case? What type of shells do you have? What species is your crab?
I love my two cool crabs Zote and Fizban.
And my cats Echo and Smudge.
