Stuck crab...still alive

Heres what happned...one of the velcro tape in the back of the tank holds the climbing thing
and one cragb went behind it....got the shell stuck..s.o he had to escape...but he also get his body stuck on the stickything ....good thing I checked......I found the crab thought he was dead...so checke4d it out....found that he was ALIVE!!!!! so I took the velcro off gently ...took the shell off...carefully took crab of slowly (he didnt look like he was in pain when coming off) but he might be in a shock....he's a bit slow but he does look grateful that I found him....so I put him back in tank.....as of now he is naked so I put shells near him....

any ideas...I hope he will be OK!

I hope he will be ok.

Try and help him in to a shell, and keep it dark and warm and quiet and don't check on him too much. It would also be good to ISO him although picking him up might stress him out more.

he was already picked up...but I misted him and stuff....he went back into the same old shell....he doesnt look too bad....he may not have been stuck that long.....do you suggest me to put a cup over him or something???? Give me suggestions...so ar he is just standing up stcking out of the shell looking around.....he still walks and stuff........

I plan to use glue gun to seal the top part of the climber so they cant get in.....maybe cover the bottom with more sand or something.........I am thinking of some ideas....

If he is in a shell you don't need to put a cup over him, but if he goes naked again and won't let you put him in a shell, you should put a cup over him with a few shells his size inside.

I hope he makes it!

That was a close one JECWhiz!

Your crab should be ok now,it would be good just to keep an eye on him. Don't think that your crab needs a glass/cup over him,if he was going to streak again,it would do so anyway glass or not. With the glass method,the way it's done is to place a nakey crab and shell inside the glass rather than place a glass over him,it helps to prevent the crab from running around naked and panicky.

Wow!! I am glad he's o.k. And he really should be o.k., they're sturdier than I think we give them credit for. I'm sorry this happened to him but glad you posted about it because this scenario could have played itself out in my tank! I have a real pain-in-the-butt guy who wedges himself between the glass and cocomat, at the top near the velcro! Uhm....yeah....I'll have to take care of that!

the biggest problem was that the net attached to the climbing wall keeps pulling the wall and the sticky part of velcro (not the zippy part...the sticker part that sticks on glass) comes off and the crab got STUCK on the sticky part....not the velcro part..........so far he is okay....but he has 3 legs....when I found Bashful stuck.....he only had 3 legs.......I hope he will be alright.....he is mostly sticking out of the shell like a normal happy crab but more of staying still in the water dish with water and his eyes is totally up staring....if I put my hand in the tank he would hide.....then come back out......

He was naked for like 10 min one crab did seem to try to attack him when he was naked so I grabbed the bad crab and put him away.....then eventually he went back to his same old shell and been kinda out of it.........but when I held him when he was naked right after saving him...he seemed thankful!

Glad your crab is okay! I had one stuck on the sticky part also after it seperated from the glass. I took that off and I just let them go back there, they seem to like to play behind it, so who am I to tell them that they can't. Sometimes all four of our crabs in the tank with the coco mat wall go back there.

I gotta tell you guys that its been OVER 24 hours so far and Bashful is still alive...hasn't lost any legs.....Praise the Lord for that.....but he has been STAYING at the same spot all day....I even moved him to another spot.......well guess what...he moved BACK to that spot he was standing all day!!! looking around.....

I also gluegunned the area where crabs could get in from the top...so the coco mat has been sealed...but not the bottom part.....

3 days later from what happened.....he is still ALIVE and has not lost any legs so far...Thank God! Hopefully he will be alright.....he is still staying in the SAME SPOT

here's another update guys......This Bashful has finally moved!!!

He just simply climbed up to the net to the top yesterday..........I am guessing his shock is over or something..........I wonder if he is still "bashful" or more tamed since I SAVED his life....hmmmmmmmI still dont even know the sex of it...but still say he.......LOL

By the way guys......forgot to tell who what shell Bashful has.......he has had this shell BEFORE and AFTER he got stuck....the shell is the same shell as what Rosie used to wear which is on the picture on the right of this post...
