Rehomed Crab/White stuff/Tough Cookie

Post by MrTeacherDude » Sun Oct 09, 2016 10:03 am

Just got this new crab from a friend who didn't want it anymore. They knew I had a large tank and asked if I would take it. I gladly accepted.

Looking at it there this this white stuff oozing from holes in the shell. Almost looks like glue...

This crab roamed free in a beach house for who knows how long before my friends found it on vacation about 2 months ago. They bought a glass fishbowl and have been feeding it bananas and tap water. No extra shells and no sand.

No hairs on legs and blunt tips, this crab is definitely ready for a molt.

Hopefully she (they named it Stephanie because it's in a pink shell) can survive a molt and enjoys my crabitat.

Oops posted this in Crab Behavior. Can a mod move it to New Crabs for me? Thanks!

Is the ooze liquid or dried? It looks like dried glue from where someone tried to repair the fractured shell.

It's dried. I thought it looks like glue as well. I rrrrrreally hope she wasn't inside when they tried to fix it. I hope glue wouldn't bond to their exo...

It does look a lot like glue, when she gets in the big tank I think you should watch and see if she can change shells... :worry::

I have her in my tank at home. There's only about an inch of sub. She checked out a shell, but wouldn't change into it.

I will move it when I get onto a pc, just offer good foods and wait, and hopefully she recovers. Offer plenty of healing foods, and get some more sub in there with her, (with only 1 crab as long as it can cover her fully it should be sufficient.) and hopefully she will recover!
