Hi everyone! My real name is Amanda, and I am eagerly looking forwards to the arrival of my first crabs since when I was a kid and the common man knew nothing about caring for crabs. The first thing I have to do is declutter their space and set up the crabitat. Decluttering will take some time yet but in the meantime I've been heavily researching care guidelines and such. I believe that I have at least a 15 gal. I got from a secondhand store (it will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized) and I'll only at first end up with three, at least that's the plan. When I can find the time and money later to make or find a giant tank for them I could theoretically have as many as I can take care of.
Though I'm a sucker for the weird or interesting and pps are the most common crab in pet stores and beach shops I feel like these first three should be pps since they're the most easygoing, or so I've heard. Later on, absolutely I will end up with some of the 'berries and probably a violet or five. I love the violet's color! Lllloooooove it. Pair that with a nice weird dark Murex shell and that crab would win a beauty contest! ....at least for me.
I still live at Mom's though I'm almost thirty (OMG) but she's fine with these here, even though she's not fine with fish or lizards or cats.... hm. Everyone in my family already thinks I have a shell problem. LOL! I can imagine if everyone here has experienced that during their crabkeeping adventures. I'm sure it's going to be an adventure and a half, and THEN some. And I can't contain myself for all my excitement.
Anyway so that's me! As soon as I get crabs I'll share them with you!

Re: Hello!
Welcome to HCA! If you have any questions, just ask.... To find out gallons of your tank measure lwh and multiply them together. Divide that number by 231 and that gives you the total US gallons.
