Great! Just make sure if you aren't, try to spray with dechlor saltwater instead of freshwater, that's where I messed up.

You do not want to spray with dechlorinated marine saltwater. This will cause a buildup of salt i the tank. If you must mist - use dechlorinated freshwater. Please note that misting your tank can lead to flooding.

I only mist the moss on the platform, they seem to like it better when it's moist versus drier

LOL, as soon as you get a bigger tank....you will want an even BIGGER tank! It's the nature of crabbing!

Haha I see that happening already. Right now they have a 20 gal long, but I want something taller

If you like the base dimesions, a 29g tank is the same base dimensions as a 20g long, just taller. While 4 crabs would do fine in a 29g, as they start growing larger in size (approaching a medium) you'll find that a 29g isn't cutting it, and you may have to look into a 40g breeder or 55g to keep them happy in the somewhat longer term.

Thank you! I have an active fishtank that is I think a 30 gal and if i upgrade them , I can use that for the crabs, it should keep them happy for awhile.

How long will a crab stay buried? We got 2 new crabs a little over a week ago to join our other 2. One of them has been out and about exploring and changing shells almost daily, the other buried itself almost instantly and hasn't been seen since.

They can stay buried for a few months if they are molting. If not molting, they could be buried for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. It's totally normal for him to have buried right away and not come up yet.

Note that if you have a moss pit, they could just be in there. I thought one of my smaller crabs was down for molting, found him in the moss pit after 2 weeks of not being seen >.<

He is definitely buried in substrate, I upgraded size of their tank today and the only spot I didn't touch in old one was the last place I had seen him which was under a rock house. So the mound that was around him I have not touched and have left the heater on in that tank to keep him warm while the rest are in the new tank. Once he comes out I will transfer him. Hoping it's soon, I forgot what he looked like lol

1 of my naughty crabs has stolen the sponge from the water bowl, and must have buried it cause I can't find it!
Has anyone elses done this?
