I was worried about them cracking their shells landing on hard surfaces... They don't seem to have problems with it though. One of my big ones landed in the salt water, and kept walking around and around looking for the ramp up, but instead kept walking right past it.

With the new greenery, they're a lot more active this morning. Zipping around like crazy. We've had a fatality that I'll have to replace though... they tore it down good!

They also seem to have decided to excavate the entire front of the tank. Weird. Might have something to do with the thunderstorm we had this morning. ImageImage

Lol, my substrate is nothing but holes and tunnels right now and I can’t do anything about it because I have 2 down at the moment. I’m so funny about keeping my tank all neat and organized and it’s killing me, lol! I was worried too about their shells and have looked closely after some good falls, but they are always in tact. Stronger than we realize, they choose their homes well. Smart little creatures .

I will vent with you as well! Had a teeny crab go under almost 3 weeks ago... haven’t seen him. then my small/medium one went down for about a week and he likes to burrow around. Then my other 4 medium/larger crabs went down about 2 weeks ago, so we are currently feeding and watering pet sand as well! One thing I have really learned from experience, is the timelines for molting are really only “guidelines” as I have had small ones under for over 2 months and larger ones under for less time. They have been doing this a long time, so just let them do their own thing - it’s instinctive for them!!
