New Crab Owner
New Crab Owner
hi, im ryp, i am 17 and just got two hermit crabs a day ago - my first hermit crabs ever i believe one is male and one is female; the males name is guts and the female has no name yet, if she turns out to be male her name would be griffith (i just rewatched the berserk series lol) but ill likely name her something else, she is a little shy but curious when she actually comes out and guts is not shy at all, but doesnt try to pinch me or anything. ive read and watched videos about hermit crabs and their requirements, my room gets pretty hot during the summer time so the temp is actually fine right now without any heater - but i will be getting a heat mat for them within the next few days.
here is their enclosure! there are more shells in there than cant be seen in the image

the female is beside the coconut hut but guts is not visible in this pic.
ill probably upload pictures of these two separately at some point once they are a little calmer around me i would love to get any suggestions or recommendations for my enclosure

Re: New Crab Owner
Hey welcome.
Congrats on the new guys, hopefully they are settling in well.
My only suggestion is the sand looks really damp, it may be at risk of a flood and that I can only see one visible water dish. Hopefully there's two in their and its just my bad eyesight?

yes there are two! the other is in the front right next to the food dish - it is hard to see since its basically the same color as the sand. the sand feels like sandcastle consistency and doesnt puddle when i make a hole or anything, i will keep an eye on it for sure though, thank you !!aussieJJDude wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:46 pmHey welcome.
