Hi everyone!
I just got new crabs and they have not moved or burrowed. I’m starting to get really worried. Is it normal for them to stay in the same place?
I have a 20g tank for 2 crabs. They have about 7inches of substrate. (Coconut fiber and play sand)
I have a freshwater and saltwater pool (using prime to condition and instant ocean for the saltwater)
My temperature is 77 degrees and my humidity is HI (my gauge won’t tell me a number past 80)
I have an LED light with a 24H timer.
One of my hermit crabs does come out of his shell when I change the water and their food, but the other one has been in the same spot.
Any advice on what I should be doing or could do differently?

Crabs are often not super active. Where did you get them from - were they in good conditions? How long have you had them?

I got them at petco 4 days ago. The conditions were not good.

I wouldn't think this is totally unexpected behavior. Just keep the conditions appropriate like they are, and feed good quality foods including protein and calcium. If you want to see them eating, try offering something like popcorn!
