Really?!!
I've read from multiple sources that hermit crabs need to be kept in groups of 3!

Yes, I think that is a marketing ploy to sell more crabs or something. I don't have evidence to back it up, but that is just what I think.
I love my two cool crabs Zote and Fizban.

Oh, sorry! I didn't mean like I didn't believe you, just that it was surprising to me. I really like crabs, so I will probably always have more than one, but it's cool to know they can live alone!

Oh sorry I did not mean it like that either! I was trying to express my unhappiness for the crabs.

I've found it's so easy for things you mean to say and how other people read them online to get mixed up :)

For a long time it was believed that hermit crabs are social and need to be kept in groups based off observations of wild hermit crabs living together. Many websites and books still reference this

However, recent research has shown that wild hermit crabs congregate not because they like company but because it’s convenient, such as by taking shells from each other. Anecdotally, many of the longest lived hermit crabs reported in captivity were either singletons or in pairs.

Maybe because people can't afford to keep a lot of jumbo crabs...
