New crab friends coming home tomorrow! (Edit: They're Here!)

I'm more excited than I have any right to be, but I'm bringing home some new crabs!

I've been scouring ads and adoptions for months with none in my area (my parents weren't crazy about the idea of taking me to meet up with people I met on the internet, either), and since I just lost Anorith, my parents basically said "Surprise, we're taking you to get new crabs Saturday!" so apparently I'm getting some little guys! Thankfully the store they're bringing me to has the best conditions I've ever seen in a store, and natural shells to boot. I hate to support the industry but my parents say they've dumped so much money into my crabitat that I'm not allowed to not have hermit crabs I'd rather get them from a better store than a worse one, either way. My 50g is pretty empty with only 2 confirmed live crabs and 1 that I haven't seen for awhile, so it'll be nice to have some new recruits. If I can find lil ones, I can use those lil shells I have that my current ones have outgrown, too!

So here's hoping they have healthy little guys for me to choose from :3 Last time I bought from this store (over a year ago) the employees had names for all of the crabs and when the girl who was handling me went out back to get a travel container she said "GUYS! REGGIE IS GOING HOME!" and I heard cheering, so the people who work with these crabs are so sweet, which is a huge relief compared to horror stories I've heard!

Thanks guys! :3 I'll definitely let you know "who" I bring home. Last time "Reggie" became Omanyte and she's my favorite crab. I tried not to pick favorites but it was hard not to! (She's been buried since September 4th, I hope she's alright D:)

Either way, the new recruits have a small feast waiting for them to help them settle in when they come home!



We have fruits and veggies in the leaf bowl, honey to the left, and shrimp & scrambled egg to the right. Cuttlebone is always available too, but isn't in the picture.

And in their travel tank for coming home in, they have a blended powder mix of dried veggies, nuts, cuttlebone, banana chips, and oats.

They'll probably want to molt very soon, so I want to make sure they get to pack on the pounds with good food before then

Crabinski, I was very surprised at how good their condition is. They don't even have big leg tips missing, only a tiny bit on one leg each. It doesn't look like Ralts has molted for awhile but Weedle still has black nails on all but one leg, so we'll see! They both buried overnight, either way~ They're both in shells that are pretty big on them but they don't seem to have any trouble getting around. Either way I have some shells for them to check out

They got into minor dominance disputes on the way home. Feeler fights, Ralts pushed Weedle a little. Ralts is definitely dominant. Weedle tried to puff up at her and she just started cleaning her eyes "Oh, I'm sorry, was that supposed to be intimidating? Hang on, I must not be seeing properly."

They got into minor dominance disputes on the way home. Feeler fights, Ralts pushed Weedle a little. Ralts is definitely dominant. Weedle tried to puff up at her and she just started cleaning her eyes "Oh, I'm sorry, was that supposed to be intimidating? Hang on, I must not be seeing properly."

OMG, I can just picture it! Ralts sounds like she'll shake up your tank a bit when she meets the others.

I hope she knows better than to try anything with Shuckle :roll: Shuckle is dominant in the tank and isn't afraid to remind the other crabs. She even pushed Anorith around when he was alive, and he was almost twice her size!

I laughed so hard at this my husband gave me a weird look. Lol
