Finally, there are some crabs in my tank!

Post by jaelynn » Sat Jan 31, 2015 11:23 pm

Today I finally got some crabs in my tank! I got it all set up, and have three new crabbies! I picked up two large-ish straws, and one tiny PP. Tomorrow I'm going to be picking up another tiny/small PP so my lone one will have a friend. They are currently all name-less, but I'm working on that!

I don't have any pictures, because they had a pretty stressful night and a long car ride, so I figured I'd let them do their thing before I start flashing a camera in their faces. They are currently all up and exploring and climbing like crazy (I'm still patiently waiting for one of them to go explore and spend some time in the bubble pool that I created)

They are currently in a 20g, with 6-8 inches of substrate. Lots of climbing spaces, and a second level shell shop. I'm very excited, and will get pictures up as soon as I can!

Congrats, I really look forward to the pics.

(I hope you plan to upgrade the straws though, they really need their space. They really active, and personally a 40g should be the min for two. Especially that you have two large straws, I worry when your crabs have to moult they will be "discovered".)

Thanks!

Honestly, I don't know the actual size of them. I'm used to having micros and tinys, and anything over that is "large-ish" to me. I haven't had the chance to actually measure them.

I'm a broke, unemployed, university student, and there really isn't a budget or room for upgrading right now. Hopefully I will be able to though at some point!

I'm excited because I was finally able to get some pictures without disturbing them! The one in the SW bubble pool is the biggest one. The smallest guy in the picture is my PP. He's pretty small, but come 11pm every night he seem to have the biggest personality Image

Thank you! :D

I've wanted straws for over seven years, and I'm so thrilled to be able to have them now! :D
I've been looking for tanks online to upgrade, but they're all so expensive and right now they just aren't in the budget. I"ll definitely keep my eye out though!

I'm hoping to have even more pictures of these guys soon! :D

Eagerly look forward to the pics. :)
A good place to look for a cheap upgrade is a leaky tank, these can be bought very cheap. Another option is to look at totes, they get cheap and for a large bin, can band-aid your problem until you find the deal that you like.

Don't worry, I'm not complaining. Keep all these pics coming, you have beautiful crabs, might as well show them off!

Ugh I am so jelly of straws. They're just so pretty and jewel toned. Like little crabby rubies.
