Hello, Im on the other side of the country BC. I recently took on 2 crabs that a youngster lost interest in. Seems a lot of parents could take the opportunity to teach kids about responsibility and commitment but choose not to. Their loss in missing a valuable lesson, my gain in buying two interesting creatures. I promptly got 3 more for socializing. I would happily take on more as an excuse to expand the tank. I use real plants in the tank, works as a food, decoration and climbing supports.
I don't see a lot of other canucks on here, an elite group we crab keepers.

I live in a heavily populated metropolitan area. My neighbourhood is well stocked with wealthy people who (I assume) find it expedient to just put useful old stuff they don't want on the curb for scavengers like me to pick up, instead of taking the time to sell it online - I semi regularly pass over five and ten gallons in the summer. :P

I live in a relatively mundane rural area and still see tanks and stands sitting outside a few times a year. Like LJJ, I don't bother stopping unless it's over 20G or a metal stand.
