New Additions!
Yesterday was a big crabbing step for me. I finally started setting up my new 29 gallon tank that I got a few weeks ago.
I still will be adding in a layer of the old sub from my current tank when everyone comes up, plus a new heat mat, one of their half logs, and their shell shop.
This is a photo from the top of the tank...
I also rescued two little E's (my first new species since my PP's!)...the pet store by my house has absolutely deplorable conditions and almost all the crabs in their tank looked well on their way to passing away. I rescued the only two that looked alive. I know my 10 gallon is too small for 5 crabs but my 29 gallon will be ready soon and my 3 PP's are currently buried so the E's have the tank to themselves.
Meet Nikki
and Frankie!

Looks great! I love how open it is, great for the crabs to run around and stretch their legs!
I really like your new additions too, congrats on the new species.

Re: New Additions!
I worked on the tank some more today. I re-arranged the vine to make it easier for the crabbies to get on and easier for me to get to the right half of the tank. I also added some more foliage and their food dish.
and I got this adorable pic of Nikki last night. She was hanging out on the half log...she is so tiny and cute!!!

Re: New Additions!
I moved the shell shop into the new tank tonight. The newbies just have the few shells I have for them so far scattered in the tank and my other 3 are still buried...didn't really feel they needed shells lol.
I am definitely going to have to move the big half log into the new tank when I move the crabbies...the newbies love it.
(Please excuse our poo-poo...we are new to the photo posing circuit)
My awesome hubby ordered the last few things I need to get my tank up and running tonight. I have my new heat resistant screen lid coming as well as some new lid clips, a new size appropriate heat mat and I found this cool bird ladder I am going to use to connect the shell shop to the ground...it has crushed seashells mixed in with a "lightweight cement" that the birds use to trim their nails and beaks...I thought the hermies would love it! I should have my items in just a few days...I hope to have the tank up and running by Friday!!

It looks great!! I love the idea of turning that half log on its end, and from the pictures, your crabs seem to love it that way too!

Re: New Additions!
They do love it.....it gives them a little bit of height plus they can still hide behind it. In the current tank they like to use it to get up close to the light.

Re: New Additions!
I got my new tank finished and it's up and running! I have my 2 E's moved into the tank right now...my 3 PP's are still buried. I will move them over when they come up.
So here it is...my 100% completed tank!
It features a large saltwater pool, a freshwater pool (both with river rock bottoms and plastic canvas ramps), 7 inches of new sub, 1.5 inches of old sub from original tank, a large half log, a large Cholla climber, a plastic canvas climbing wall, a brand new moss pit inside a plastic canvas open top cube, the shell shop, a wood and cement bird ladder covered in plastic canvas to get to the shell shop, a 6 foot vine, a large hemp net, and various leaves for decor and hiding. I also have an 8 watt heat mat (off during day), a 16 watt heat mat and my 75 watt heat lamp with a 50 watt daylight bulb during the day and 25 watt (I think?) moonlight bulb at night.
The crabs seem to love it so far...here is a pic of Frankie (back, facing camera) and Nikki (back to camera, white spots) hanging out on their new climbing wall.
And here is Frankie hanging out (literally LOL) on the new Cholla climber.

Looks like they having a great time in there, they won't be the only one! I would have more fun than a kid locked up in a lolly shop!

Re: New Additions!
I can't wait until my PP's come up and can go into the new tank. I'm excited to see how they react to it....and to the new crabs. My original two have been buried and have not met New Penny or my two E's lol.

Re: New Additions!
Thank you!! I'm surprised, as much as they adored the half log in the original tank...they haven't touched it in the new tank yet. At least not that I have seen. They are MUCH more interested in their new Cholla Wood...though I can't blame them. It was an awesome find!
