Accidental crab mom

Hi Everyone! I found my one and only crab last month in a trash pile by my house! Being an animal lover, I took it home, cleaned out its pathetic crabitat (yes, someone threw out the whole setup) and started googling about crab care. The next day she had substrate, shells, food, water(s), etc. I was shocked how much a golf-ball sized crab could eat and drink! Two days in, she switched to a new shell and after only a week, she dug down to molt. I haven't seen her in almost 6 weeks, but I hear some movement now and then. Once she reappears, I need to obtain a bigger habitat and some friends.... I'm kind of obsessed. Happy to have found this forum. I'm hoping I can connect here for an adoption when the time comes!

You're not the first person to post about finding live crabs in the trash.

She is one lucky hermit and you are one wonderful person for saving her!
