Welcoming a new (very small) purple pincher

I went to my local pet store to replace a fake plant that the crabs are doing a number on, and stopped to look at their hermit crab tank. I saw there were a few dead hermies, but then I saw this little guy. I didn't want to risk him having the same fate.

He hasn't came out of his shell yet but that's probably just stress getting him. I also bought 4 new shells around his size. Hopefully he comes out and eats soon.

He's made his way to the other side of the tank now, he might be trying to dig but I can't tell since he's facing the back wall. Another thing I think he might be back there for is the heat coming off of the Ultratherm.

He's digging, probably going down for a well needed molt or destressing.

He's so cute and small! I love a good rescue story! I rescued a little guy about 5 months back. He did the same thing, very inactive and then dug down. I hadn't seen him for about 3 months, but I saw his empty shell up one morning. Now when I wake up at 3 a.m. to pee  he's up with a new shell, freshly molted, and digging through the food dish. He likes to sleep under the sand, but he's doing great!
Keep us updated!

Will do! Currently he's been dug down, so if he comes back up I'll let you all know!

Another person has had the same issue, I use Google+, so the pictures will probably work if you just look here real quick:
