We have set up our new crabs' home and plan on purchasing them tonight. Here are some pictures of our new crabitat.

The substrate is 1/2 coconut fiber & sand mix, and silica sand. I know the crabs will probably not keep the "Beach" area seperate from the rest of the substrate, byt that's how we are starting out.
In the freshwater container, I have a jet lifter type bubbler system to carry water from the deep part of the reservoir up to the a shallow spillway. I have java moss under the plastic mesh. My hopes are that the moss will fill in and grow up through the mesh. The crabs can graze on it if they want.
Since I am very much a plant person I was disappointed to learn that real plants don't fair well with the crabs. I'm thinking of using a suction shower cup to hold a pothos vine up on the tank side. I'm going to have a braided cotton rope going down into the freshwater reservoir, to wick water up to the plant to keep it watered. I think this will also raise the humidity in the tank. I have vine clippings in water right now and will plant them once they sprout roots.
On the shopping list for tonight: a heater, some salt water and 3 crabs.
Any thoughts or advice are welcome.
