so i just got three hermit crabs and one of them is really big and sadly none of my huts will let him in it. i was wondering if i could make a bigger hut for him with an empty baby formula can? if i clean it out really good could it work as a hut without harming them?

You could, but I think a better choice might be an old plastic cottage cheese container. Or anything plastic, really. Coffee cup turned on its side with a bit of substrate in it for traction. Old clay pot on it's side. Anything tupperware. They have a lot to choose from at the thrift store.
I would worry about trace material contamination of the baby food/formula container. They're sensitive to heavy metals and such. If the container is not glass or plastic, but is instead cardboard, I'd worry about the crabs tearing it up with their claws and trying to eat it.
Good luck!!! Welcome to HCA!

I have several hides in one of my crabitats, but one hamster one that is plastic has always been everyone's favorite. I have several crabs that pile outside of it because there isn't a room for them all. I even bought a second hide just like it, but it stays empty.

Crabs are weird
