Deciding which tank!

I am a new crab owner but I use to work at a pet specialty store so I have some experience caring for them.

We ended up getting some from a beach store on vacation that one of my kids picked out. Knowing they like buddies we ended up with 6

I am a huge fish enthusiast so I happen to have a few choices for tanks for them and ideas in mind!

The two I am considering is a 29g (then would upgrade overtime) or a 35g hexagon. The 29g has a larger footprint but the 35g is taller.

Of the two which do you all think would be most beneficial?

The crabs we got ended up with painted shells but I wanted the most active and healthy looking and wasn’t really considering shell

You can see approximately the size in this photo. This is just a temporary carrier to get some of them home (we have two separate containers to get them home so they aren’t so over crowded). Ignore the fact that he’s showing his new friends his ice cream lol Image

I would go with the 29, just my opinion.

I agree. The 29. They need adequate ground space for molting.

Okay great! I may look into something larger pretty quickly but I’m excited for this for now!

Welcome to the crab world!

29g sounds good, as long as you get your 6+ inches of substrate you'll be fine.
