I may be adopting 2 PP crabs that appear to have very little, dry substrate. Been that way for at least 3 months as that's how long they've been working to re-home them.
Not sure I'm finding the resources I'm looking for here, but some places recommend showing working up to proper conditions? Is that needed? Do we have a current PPS info file? I do have an extra 30 gallon I can set up instead of putting them straight into my 55 gallon, if that is recommended.
Thanks. Just want to give them their best shot. It's been almost 10 years since I've added anything new ones. And excited to give my other two a couple friends!

Re: Current recommendations for new crabs that came from dry conditions
Hi!
From what I remember, the HCA does not recommend the PPS method. It's preferred to get them into good conditions right away. Whenever I rescue newbies, I give them a quick dip in the fresh water so they smell the same, and pop them right in the tank.

Thanks! Into my tank they will go. Picking them up Saturday!
One of my two has been down for weeks and my other has started tunneling again. Not sure if it surfaced this morning yet, but I was thinking how funny it would be if both are down when they come. Like, will the new ones be surprised when the other two resurface? Will my old ones be surprised with the newbies after coming up from a molt?

There is no need to gradually acclimate them to appropriate conditions - doing so has not been shown to improve chances survival.

Maybe some squabbles, but honestly, after adding newbies, most cases I'd observe no difference in behaviour once moulters resurfaced. Its like they didnt notice.

Thank you, curly. I trust this forum above others and just wanted to make sure nothing has changed in what you all recommend here.
