species ID help from gulf

Post by cinque_3 » Thu Jul 11, 2024 2:57 am

My relatives recently went to the Gulf of Mexico and their kids wanted to bring back two crabs they found. They offered to give them to me as they didn't want to take care of the crabs for the long term. Despite my lack of experience with crabs, I'm willing to research and give the poor things what they need. The crabs have currently been in a bucket filled with water and beach sand for "a few days" so they're probably aquatic (they also seemed aggravated when I took them out of the water to get a good look, I tried to take pictures quickly). It's my first time with hermit crabs and I don't want to misidentify them, so some help would be appreciated before I head into town to get them some supplies :cloud9:

Those are marine crabs. You will need to find a forum or someone to help that knows about marine crabs. Our site is all about land hermit crabs. From my understanding, marine crabs are harder to keep.
