Is it an optical illusion or is your heat lamp inside the tank?

Hi! I wanted to caution you against hanging the lamp inside the tank. Close to the substrate, it has a risk of drying out the sand or overheating a crab. Crabs are also like little spiders and will climb all over it.

I love the hemp netting in the back corner draping down over the cave! That looks gorgeous! I also love how many little hide-outs there are within the crabitat! So many fun places for the hermies to 'explore'!

The light is NO WHERE close to anything they could climb on. I know about heat & drying out. It's a 25 watt bulb and only on a short time. Besides the light is a foot above the substrate. Thank you for your concern.

I got some of the netting from Amazon, if you want the link I can find it for you. The next set I got was from Naples.

Yes, Amazon & Naples - where you buy shells, both online stores.

Beautiful tank! It is obvious you took at lot of time and love into this tank! I bet your hermits love it! As far as the light, it is very easy to interpret a post the wrong way and take offense. Even when it is not meant that way. My PPs & Es make it to the top of my tank and crawl all the way around the top of my tank. They amaze me. They are strong creatures! They crack me up by climbing up the airline hose as well as the netting. Sometimes they go down the fish net, and sometimes they fall because there is more than one and the other pushes the other out of the way. I am fortunate enough to live by Daytona Beach, so I was able to get my netting locally. Basically, I also think it is a possibility for your crabs to climb and drop on the light. We are a community here to help one another :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com
