Mango sleeps in the moss pit all day and night and doesn't come down until 5am every morning. He was up at 4:30 this morning and crawled around the moss pit until 5 and then climbed on down to go about his day
Another one makes me laugh every time he tries on shells (which is often). While most of my crabs who have changed shells hop in and after a few seconds walk off if its a good fit this crab will use his back legs to wiggle the shell in place and then spends the next 2-3 min tucking in and back out again, wiggling around and finding whoever is closest to crawl over before deciding if its a good fit or not.
Anyone else have quirky crabs?

Re: Quirky Crabs
I have one that changes shells constantly,I saw him in the saltwater pool washing a shell out for a while,I guess he don't like wearing the same old shell.
I got a new crab and it was as large as my biggest one and for the longest time the were sitting next to each other,I wonder what they were talking about ?? I thought my guy was eyeing up the competition to see who is the alpha male ha ha,nothing ever happened, guess it's just a crab thing.they are pretty funny some times

Re: Quirky Crabs
I have one who does "the wiggle" with each shell. He actually lined up all the available shells in a sort of circle and hopped from shell to shell. I don't know if this was an aiming game, but he never missed a hole! He finally settled back in on his original shell...all that and still went back...
Re: Quirky Crabs
My PPs range from one small, two mediums, one large. Shells for the small fella, Charles Paris, had been relegated to a little second-story shell shop so he could browse without being trampled on by the bigger guys. However, my large guy, Big Enzo, is obsessed with small shells, ones his butt cannot even begin to get into, and would visit the little shell shop every night. He'd carefully examine each and every shell, turning it around and sticking as much of a big leg into it as would fit (usually not more than the toe). Of course, he'd inadvertently tear down that little shop every night so I finally gave up and put all of the shells together. Has that stopped Big Enzo? No! Now he can examine every single shell all in one place every night, always starting with the smallest ones...never stays in a new choice for more than 30 seconds (while holding on tight to his usual shell) before jumping back into his favorite. Just goes to support one of HCA's favorite mantras, "Crabs are weird"!
PPs are Big Enzo, Charles Paris and Mr Pinch
