The reason pine and certain evergreens are on the unsafe list is because the penols in the sap are toxic to the crabs.
They regularly climb pine/evergreen trees in their natural habitat.
In enclosed spaces, where the phenols cannot dissipate, this poses a potential hazard for the crabs.
Pine cones carry the seeds of the trees and do not contain sap.
