That moment where I almost catch this goofball riding around on his tank mate, grab the camera and he takes a tumble.

He tried again but couldn't get the mount right, lol I hope the wasn't getting any shell snatching ideas.....

Oh my gosh, the goings on in my tat tonight!

I actually got to see Luis change shells!!! It was so exciting! I'm sorry I didn't get a video for y'all, but I was so afraid to miss the action - I'd never had a chance to see the event. He had already changed into a dark coloured shell while I was asleep... then he popped out of his new shell & back into the old one as I watched. GIDDY!!
And it looked like Luis had pleopods - so he's actually a girl,
I've been using a little flash light to spy on them at night (not for very long because I don't want them stressed) and I'm getting to see activities I'd been missing out on before.

Harry was back up from his day time digging... I thought Luis was in Harry's shell earlier, but was mistaken. I need to keep better track of which shells I've got in there. Harry was checking out shells but never changed. Luis is still being a bit stand-offish with him.

THEN later, I found Luis on top of the tank, playing the escapee. I put her back inside and saran-wrapped the top... she'd been climbing on the netting inside the lid earlier. I guess I need to figure out where she got out & fix that in the morning. Bah. I really do need a new tank with a lid that's not cobbled together from scratch. Because this tank was purchased second hand, in a hurry & for super cheap, it doesn't have a rim, so comercial lids won't work with it. Bleah.

So active thats awesome!

This morning i woke up to what looked like the aftermath of an awesome hermit party lol. Image
Pulled the gauges down and both RoxSand [f] and Uu [m] and between the coco matting and the tank glass.
Image
They have been loooooving the coco matting. Only problem is they are starting to rip it down and its not staying up anymore. So any tips on keeping it up would be much appreciated!

You may try to use some Jute twine to tie the pieces together, or you could use some twine to attach it to some Terra Cotta pots.

I used Velcro squares, one on each corner, then one in between each of those. Mine has never fell down and it's on the back completely flat so no one can fit behind it

I have never taken any off, so I don't know if they still leave residue or not.

ah. mk. ive just avoided permanent fixtures tho i guess i could put a few spaced out on the top rim...might be useful for other things as well....i just worry if the residue is safe or not but i guess it cant be too different from the velcro used to kep my gauges in place.

hahah now the hermit crabs in my head are walking on their their hamster wheel!

When I sold my 55 gal, I had tons of Velcro inside to help hold things up. Out of 20(?), I only had one piece to leave a residue. That one was there for almost 6 yrs. The others maybe a year or two.... I used a razor blade and scraped off the residue. Worked like a charm.
