I recently adopted two twin crabs. A teacher had thought they'd be a great class pet, but nope, they're not active during the day so no fun for the kiddos. They both have the same pattern on their shells. Anyway the more active one is Bitsy and the 'lazy' one who is buried now is Vis.
So Bitsy, interested in this new, wide, space,decided to crawl into the cocohut.
Sorry, BOSS' cocohut. He immediately backed her into a corner. I freed her and slid her onto the ramp of my FW pool, which she got out then crawled back in for a drink XD
Okay, cool.
No.
She went back. I read on to figure that it's not a shelljacking or his attempts at eating her, just his attempt at dominance. To which he pushed her to the cocohut wall then turned around to ignore her.
I freed her and putting her to the side. She climbed into the SW pool (yay!) and just kinda floated before climbing out.
Then she climbed over Boss to get back into the cocohut. His face was very 'FINE, DO WHATEVER, I DON'T CARE'.
Boss is-reluctantly-sharing.
Vis, the other one, is under the moss. Red is, I think, molting under the log. So yeah this all happened over the course of an hour and a half. Fun times!

Have you seen a crab totem pole yet? Thats when crabs sit on each others heads bc they all want the same spot. Sounds like your guys are hammering out hierarchy. Crabs are weird.

I have not but the image makes me giggle. Lol. Omg. I have a feeling these two are going to either be bashing one another from the top spot constantly, or grow to be reluctant friends.
The other two, VIs and Red, seem very happy with their spots.

Ha ha ha! Isn't it great how they have these personalities? Decapod crustaceans have individual personalities. Who knew???
