Crab never comes out of shell

Post by Puoyo » Sat Aug 19, 2017 8:41 am

I have a crab named Shelldon, he's a PP, medium sized, he's always under the sand or on the surface in his shell, he never comes out when I'm around. I never see any of the other crabs bothering him, but he just won't come out, is there something wrong?

Is humidity & heat minimum of 80?

Some crabs are just terrified of people. They are prey animals

I know humidity is usually over 80, the heat is also over 80. I guess he might just be terrified of me? Will he ever get less scared?
Sometimes I see him poked out a little, but he mostly stays underground.Image

I personally don't let my heat get over 85/86.

Some of my crabs do that too. I think it just depends on them! I have some that still run whenever I come into the room, and I never handle mine.

Have you tried giving him a bath? Just a little warm water?

I personally don't recommend bathing them. That stresses them out.

I've never bathed them because I worry about stressing them out
