I know everyone asks about this but...

Where we discuss the behavior of our hermit crabs, as in fights, pecking orders, shell swaps, etc. Please post all naked-crab posts in the Emergency forum.

I know everyone asks about this but...

I have had Mr. Krabbs for maybe 3 months. He truly doesn't seem to eat anything except oyster shells in the substrate. Maybe the cuttlebone. But with the camera I have in the tank I see everyone visit the food dish. Except Mr. Krabbs. He's still alive obviously. I don't know how.

I never see 2 of my crabs eat either....but I know they do cause pieces of food are all over the tank or chunks of food is missing from big pieces I put out. As long as he’s still alive that all that matters.

Depending on your substrate he could be eating it. I have pure coconut fiber made with salt water and I find my crabs chowing down on it all the time. I've also found them eating the sides of their coconut hut and the wet end of the attached rope ladder.
As long as he is active, he's eating something.

I wouldn't worry. He knows what he is doing - the others may drag food off which he eats..

I was just thinking today that due to the exotic nature of hermit crab life the exact state of their health is often an unknown quantity and so I more or less always feel mildly anxious about their health.
