Moss pitt
My crabs in one of my tanks never use the moss pit. None of them. I've put it in different spots yet not 1 crab uses it. Is that normal? My crabs in my larger tank use theirs all the time.

Re: Moss pitt
How long have you had the moss pit? I know it took our crabs weeks to finally go in. When we switched to sphagnum it took almost a month. But they all love their pits now.

Re: Moss pitt
I know that mine sure did when I had one multiple time, but I just keep my moss directly on the substrate, they eat it and sit on top of it that way. The only downside to this is you really can't remoisten it as you would for a pit, so I just replace it.

Re: Moss pitt
How easy it it for them to access the moss pit? I know crabs can be a bit on the slow side to find new things in the tank. You can also try the moss dried and damp too. Some crabs prefer it one way to the other. When we added the sphagnum moss our first batch was too wet and they avoided it. After it dried out a little they went in it all the time.

I think it's "frog moss". My other crabs in the bigger tank are ok with it. I've had the "pit" in different spots. Tried different ways for access. It's mostly a little damp with some dry. I know crabs are all different with different likes, but it just seems weired that none of them like it.

Re: Moss pitt
We have one crab that I’m seriously worried that she never leaves the moss pit. Haven’t seen the other three touch it
