I have three hermit crabs. Two small and one that i don’t really know if it’s small or medium. When I first got my hermit crabs last July, they were from a pet store and weren’t healthy. They were small and didn’t play at all. When they tried to climb, they fell and they weren’t healthy at all.
Over the last almost year, they are a lot better. They’ve all been through 2 healthy molts and they love to play, run, climb, eat, swim, play in the plants, and so much more. They’re now active and healthy.
They were only in a 10 gallon, which didn’t matter at first because they didn’t do much, but now they are so active, I upgraded to a 20 gallons. I set up their tank similar to their first one, with bigger water dishes and a hamster wheel.
Here’s the problem, it’s been over 2 weeks and they haven’t left their coco den. One came out once, got food, and brought it into the coco den for the other crabs. I know it’s takes time for them to adjust but it’s been over 2 weeks and was wondering when they are expected to?
Thank you everyone!

They may be coming out at night and you just may not see them. I know that i wouldn't know that mine were coming out if they hadn't gotten in the routine of coming out when the sun sets and going back in their hides/tunnels when it start to come back out. You could try smoothing the substrate gently and wait till morning to see if they come out while your sleeping.

It could be, I’m normally up at 6 and not asleep to well last 3 and so it would be a short time frame but definitely possible.harry potter wrote:They may be coming out at night and you just may not see them. Another thing, at night is it dark in the room they are in or is there a light on?
