Abnormal Behavior?

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to help us novice crabbers out! Last year in June my daughter brought a hermit crab, Harmony, home from a beach trip. We've since upgraded her crabitat to a 10gal glass tank that stays at or around 80°F & 80% rh. I think harmony would be considered a medium sized crab. There's one other crab in the crabitat. They get along well, and since we moved them to their new tank, they seem much more active & happy than they were in their old crabitat. Both have safely/successfully molted in the past. Now, on to my question:

For the last 3 days, our oldest crab, Harmony, has been perched atop one of the empty shells in her tank. When I first noticed her, I didn't think much of it. But we're going into the 4th day now, where she's just hanging out on top of this shell, looking around inside it. We can see her looking around, and reacting to external stimuli, like when we approach the tank, but as far as I can tell she hasn't moved from that spot since Tuesday morning. Is this normal behavior, just something we haven't seen? Or is this something I should be concerned with? If so, what can I do? Any help is appreciated, my daughter and I would both hate for something to happen to our lil fella's, especially if there was something we could do about it. Thanks in advance for any help!

Crabs are weird LOL. Sometimes they slow down before a molt, but sometimes there is no explanation for why they seemingly stay in one spot for days on end. Have you seen her eat? You could try putting a piece of popcorn (the regular kind, not microwave kind) in to see if it entices her to come down and have a snack.

You've got that right! lol I haven't seen her move from atop this empty shell since she got on it, but I can't swear to what she's been up to when I'm not looking. I'll give that a shot and see how it goes. Thanks for the reply!
