Crab burrowed for a month and didn’t molt?
Crab burrowed for a month and didn’t molt?
I’ve had this crab about a year now, so I figured it was high time he molted on account of him being relatively young. So when I saw him burrow last month I thought, “Finally!” But he emerged a few days ago the same size and with the same shell. He seems to be in good spirits now and is pretty active, but I’m wondering if there’s a reason for his long absence or if maybe this is just regular crab behavior. I would appreciate some help with this as I’m pretty new to hermit crabs. Thanks.

Molting doesn’t always mean a dramatic change in size. Sometimes it’s more subtle.
Additionally, some crabs just like to dig.

They also don't need to change shells when molting, some of mine are going on 7 years with the same shell and they molt like clockwork.
