Surviving the suburban wilds

Post by boardwalkNJ » Sat Aug 06, 2022 2:55 pm

What's the most successful breakout/survival story of a pet crab? Curious because I found a hermit crab in my yard last week and via local FB reunited him with his young owner, who lives 3 blocks away. He apparently escaped about 3 weeks ago. I've been staring out the second-story windows of my house, trying to imagine him making his tiny way across all that space (many fences, in-ground pools, streets, etc.).

That's impressive! Was it warm and humid out? I live in a very dry area and I couldn't see them surviving the 15C temps plus like 10% humidity.

My friend said she used to have hermit crabs, one of them had gotten loose and was missing for weeks, she found him on the other side of the house!
