New hermit crabs: one is active the other is not?

Post by mysweetcrabs61 » Thu Nov 30, 2023 3:10 am

So I got two small hermit crabs (PPs) from petsmart (I realized that’s awful to do). Anyways one of them is super active almost always walking around exploring while the other one is inside his too small of shell almost always. Is this normal or is the second one sick?

10 gallon (for now)
Eco earth and play sand (5-6 inches)
Temp: 75ish at night 80 during the day.
Humidity: 80-85%
Salt water bowl
Fresh water bowl
Sphagnum moss,oak leaves
About 6 shells for them (10 more turbos are being shipped and should be here tomorrow)
Food: waiting on Etsy hermit crab meal (hermitgrub) so now it’s calcium powder, dehydrated pork liver (dog treat),dried mango, apple and cranberry, walnuts, organic green tea leaves, olive oil, flax seed oil.
I love my two PPs Timmy and Tommy! (If you know the reference I applaud you)

Crabs aren't always very active at all. There is no way to diagnose if all is well with crabs, or if they are ill. All you can do is continue to provide ideal conditions and proper nutrition as you are doing.
