No - thought dribbling a little dechlor water over their claw will usually get them to release it.Laura047 wrote:I heard you should put them under hot water (not really hot of course) to get them to let go when they pinch you. Is this ok or will it hurt them?
I make our dechlor water/salt water one gallon of each at a time in those cheap plastic jugs for making ice tea in the sun. They have spigots for easy water dispensing. The one time a hermit crab pinched my husband and wouldn't let go, I used the spigot to drizzle a little dechlor water on his claw, and he let go right away.
I would not, not, not recommend water that is at all hot, nor would I recommend using water from the tap unless there's just no other way.

Amazingly, my only PP (who I've been trying to find a partner for) once pinched me with the feeder claw AND he broke my skin. Ouch! I didn't understand either too. He outside his shell is like a square inch big included with his shell. He didn't go off either! He held on to my middle finger ( the palm side) for 15-20 seconds and I was amazed he broke my skin! It was only a little tiny red spot but still ow!
