Burying Down

Post by Guest » Sun Sep 09, 2007 4:21 pm

I tried looking for a link that would help but i couldn't find one so if you have a link post it for me.

My hermit crab has buried himself in his new forest bedding the same day i put it in his crabitat. Is he preparing to molt or what?

I wanna add more hermit crabs and change his tank but now that he's buried, I'm not sure how to go about it.

Yep, sounds like he is going to molt! it is really important not to move him while he is molting, or it could turn fatal. Just leave him. If you really need to, clean around him! Good luck!

Is your baby a PP? All of mine buried quickly after coming home. Some have emerged sooner than others but I have one that still hasn't surfaced after 5 weeks. I can see him from under the tat and he's still moving so I think I have a pending molter.

Hang in there!

 Sounds like the notoriously shy, nocturnal PP to me! Some of them ya won't catch so much as a glimpse of as they prefer to move around at night. If ya see him, go ahead & move him. And ya can get him some friends. Just be warned that ya probably won't see the new ones either for a while.

Yes, if it is new, then it is destressing. If not, then molting, if it comes up, then just a very shy PP. I have 2 large PP who are just like that- dig down during the day, then come up at night!
