i keep my medium crab with my small crab, i think they are different types of crabs. i think that my small one is a ruggy? i think thats the name. my medium one is a normal hermit crab. well recently the small one has been going to the middle of the tank where the shells are kepts and turns them all right side up so it looks like there is something in them, then he just huddles down until the morning. then he goes back to climbing vines like there is no tomorrow.

If he's a ruggie, then you might want to find him a species buddie, or maybe get him an E to play with. Es and Ruggies get along really well. Maybe if you show us a picture, then you can show us what he looks like and we can tell you what he is.

ill keep an eye out for another crab like him.

Does he look something like this?(Gopher)
if he does check his eyestalks if they're all tan hes an E, most of the time Ruggies have black markings on their eyestalks and also always have stitch marks on their BP's

all tan eye stalks. whats a bp? is there any special care i need for the little guy? sorry about no pics, but he is about the size of my thumb nail. he is super active and loves to climb much more than my normal one. because of this we call him timmy the tumbler. is it usual for them to be much more active than the regular ones?

BP=Big Pincher, if his eye stalks are all tan then hes probably an E, and yes I find them to be VERY active, day and night you'll probably find him climbing around and having a good ole time

lol You two... lol
Shanna, just to let you know, there are also some species ID help in the drop down menus to the right. They'll help you get started on identifying. And don't worry if it takes a while to get it down pat. In fact, I can still get confused between Ruggies and Es. lol It just takes time.
