Hey,
Was about to go to bed until I heard chirping from my tat. I went over to look and the 2 crabs weren't fighting. The chirping was coming from under the substrate from my molter. He's a medium sized PP who has been dug down for 4weeks now so he's probably going to come up soon. Was just wondering if the chirping means anything serious? If so should I dig him up?

could be a sign of distress, or he may just be chirping. I know not much help right, i don't know if you should dig him up, you may want to try digging around him maybe you can see what might be bothering him, without disturbing him to much.
I have a moss pit in my tat, the other day one of my crabs decided to climb in it, then i heard chirping so i took a look and there was another crab in the pit, i guess he wanted it all to himself.

Wow; tough call. I'm pretty new at this, but I would agree with the previous advice. I wouldn't want to disturb him, but I wouldn't want to ignore him if that were a cry of distress, either. Good luck and please let us know how it turns out.

I decided to not do anything and as I predicted my PP dug himself up the next day. To my surprise, he hadn't molted! That means he spent 4 weeks buried and didn't molt! After running around the tank for 2 hours he's dug himself back down lol! So I guess the new question is: Why so long? (he's not recently purchased I've had him for 8months) and is this a sign of a molt? Thanks

I've got a PP that goes down for 2-4 weeks, and may or may not come up for a night. Then back down.
He's REALLY shy and my best guess is going to molt soon, but is scared about it. So he hangs out, comes up for food if he gets really hungry, then tries to find a better spot. Since I changed to nearly full EE though, I'm not sure if he's molted or just been hiding for 2 weeks.
