E acting odd

Post by Marina » Thu Nov 04, 2010 2:13 am

Mocha changed shells, and then immediately started holding her body pretty far out of the new shell. I was thinking surface molt at first, but then she walked to another spot. What do you guys think is up? Too much sand in the shell? She has her fellow E to thank for that.

This has the potential of becoming an emergency if she decides to streak, so I'm posting this before I wake up to a naked hermie. I checked all of the shells before putting them in, no pointy parts. It's not too hot in the tank, it's only 75 (Which is low, but I did some fixing up tonight and had the lid off for a while).

Is she sitting very still and looking kind of droopy? They can do that when they are sleeping. Envy use to do that and I found it most disconcerting because he looked dead and then suddenly he'd be awake and running around again. Someone here described it as looking like someone hit the off switch :D

Hm, I didn't think about that! She isn't doing it anymore. I guess changing shells is tiring for Es.

Well if it doesn't change or worsen, you can take it as a compliment that she feels safe enough to sleep out in the open.

Envy wouldn't respond to shadows or movement while he was sleeping and I could pick him up quite a way before he'd wake up. It was very funny.

It could be that her old shell made her feel unsafe for some reason and now she feels safe, hence the sleeping out in the open.
