Anyone have this happen to them?

Post by Abolish Absolution » Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:38 pm

So, my medium sized PP the other night decided to drag food on top of the large tree I have in the center of the tank.
Not only did he climb all the way up with the food in one of his claws, but he started eating it at the very top of the tree and just left it while he slept on a lower branch. :?

Happens all of the time. Mine do it with everything!
The reason I keep isopods in the tank is to prevent mold from growing when crabs drag food around the cage. You should try!

that's awesome! haven't noticed anyone climbing up something with food, only drag it. I think that's cute though!

I haven't had the food taken up high, but twice in 3 days, my E has been under ground, dug up right next to one of the food shells, put a leg in it to tip it over INTO her tunnel, munched away, then covered the whole thing in sand so I have to go digging for the shell and everything that was in it. Not pleased. Definitely getting isopods soon when I set up the big tank. Not sure if they'd be able to fix this particular dilemma, but I see how easily food can end up in weird places.

Good luck with the food in the tree!

I once saw a green bean on the second story. Friendlyfeat loves popcorn so he tries to drag it off to wherever he goes, he never succeeds because the popcorn is half his size and he can't stop eating it along the way lolz

I think it's cute your brought it up the tree.

My big guys drag huge hunks of fruit up nearly three feet to the moss constantly. The smaller crabs are always so happy when they've finished up and they leave it behind, because then they get to sit in the moss pit and enjoy someone else's hard work. I find the brown membranes in the moss all the time from the coconut chunks they bring with them.

Anubis has a thing about grabbing shredded cabbage and scuttling away to their tree with it. Its cute to watch him do it, he'll walk sideways towards the cabbage and sit there for a few moments before slowly reaching a claw into the dish and grabbing some. I've also seen Geb do the same thing with freeze dried crickets. Though he's funnier to watch cause he always grabs a cricket too big for him.
