Hi -
I have a hermit crab that's been alone for awhile (his roommates have all passed over time

I decided to get him a friend and for the first time ever that I noticed between any of them, the older one was bullying the newer one. The older one is a little smaller in size, but he would try to climb on the other one constantly and the poor thing was buried all the time. I separated them and he's been in his own tank for several weeks. I know they're nocturnal creatures, but the newer one stays buried all day. At first I thought he didn't want to be bothered by the other one, but he still stays buried. He's already changed shells and I know he comes out at night, because his food is gone in the morning. I thought about putting them together for short periods of time to see how they do, but I'm sleeping when the newer one is active to be able to tell. I also didn't know if it would be too stressful for the newer one to go back and forth between tanks. I don't mind just keeping them apart, though I know they're supposed to have company. They each have a full, functional setup in each of their tanks.
Thank you in advance!
