Both crabs Gone

Post by a22shady » Tue Nov 25, 2014 8:27 pm

So I added my new tank and substrate in. I was having issue with humidity now its perfect it fluctuates between 70-75% depending on time/temp of the room. The Crabs tank hold pretty good at 75-80F. So anyway the 1st night my daughters 1 crab "Superman" he has a superman shell immediately was walking around exploring climbing on everything all there new toys. When we got up in the morning he was gone after some searching I moved the Climbing wood saw he dug a hole under it and hasn't been out since. The other crab she calls "shelly" Is gone now too only I have absolutely no clue where she went to. I moved a few things around just to see if I could see to know where they were and I found no holes nothing She is just gone. Is possible that she buried herself to hide or Molt? The other crab I clearly see the tunnel down but this one no clue.

Yep, probably dug down to destress or molt. They don't always leave much evidence behind, especially when smaller and they will close up their tunnels behind them. Sometime a crab will leave a tunnel open if they're just digging to dig but they always close them up when molting. No need to worry, it's totally normal and best not to disturb them. It's tough waiting for them to resurface, not knowing what's going on but they know what they're doing. We just have to be patient and try not to worry too much. :D

Ok Thanks for heads up. I was thinking maybe the tunnel collapsed behind the one and he might be stuck or something.
