Combining newbies? ISOs?

Post by Drakezilla » Fri Dec 26, 2014 4:16 am

Hey guys!

So I've recently wound up with 4 new crabs sizes teeny - just shy of a medium. 2 I was given from my sister from a Petco, Cap and Bash, the other 2 I received in a Craigslist adoption, Tonks and Luna ( hoping its a girl! ). I'm sorta new to the whole multiple crab thing and I have a few questions:

01) Is there anyway they could be moved in together? I have a 10 that Tonks and Luna came in with like 8" of sub in it to molt, to which no one has shown any interest. I wanted to move them in together because one tank is just better set up for them and my funds are limited from Christmas.

02.) how long do they need to be held in ISO period? Both tanks are VERY active -- they don't hide much, they haven't burrowed at all since I deepened the sub ( I have a good mix of EE and sand in both ranging from 6" - 8" in the 5 and 10g respectively) and from what I can tell they don't even look like they're thinking about molting.

They've all ( except Bash ) switched shells a bunch of times and have really healthy appetites! I'd like to just concentrate their care better to save on supplies, but if it's a bad idea, I'll wait as long as need be!

I just ask because they don't act like the crabs I've gotten in the past who have immediately burrowed down and molted as soon as they were given the depth.

Don't worry though! These are only temporary tats until the 2 story 60 is set up! Eventually they will all be living together with my jumbo, Draco as soon as they're all ready.

I have only ever iso'd one new crab, and only because he was already sick and was being picked on. As long as the tank isn't overcrowded, I would dip the new ones in fw and put them in, keeping an eye out for a while to make sure everyone gets along.
