Sitting/sleeping upright

Post by Ginko » Sat Apr 25, 2015 3:31 pm

So I sometimes notice that my hermit crab will sleep with their shells standing up. Does this mean anything or is it normal?

crab preference, unless you notice anything else super weird i wouldn't worry about it. maybe if their shell is straight up, they can just lay in their shell without using any effort to keep themselves in , or maybe a nice draft, i have no idea. lol. I see mine do it from time to time as well.

I've also noticed that they really like to eat the drift wood that I have in there for them to climb on.

yeah they'll eat just about anything, they have tried to eat my needlpoint canvas, they eat the cholla wood like its candy, i've caught them trying to eat random plastic plants, but some they won't, i dunno. it's weird. but they seem to be just fine.
