Behavior question

Post by AimeeZ21 » Sun Feb 14, 2016 10:41 pm

I have had 7 crabs (6 PPs, 1 Ruggie) for about 2 years. 4 bought, 3 rescue. You would think that with 7 crabs, I'd see one at some point. In the first 6 months to a year, there would be one or two on the surface of the tank at some point during the day. In the last year, I haven't seen one AT ALL. I know that there must be some alive, because the food will be disturbed occasionally in the morning. Is this normal? The tank is mixed substrate, 8-9 inches deep, kept between 78-85% humidity, 75-85 degrees, checked substrate for dryness (nope). I have a moss pit and shell shop that used to attract them. Are they dead? Should I be worried?

I just read the winter digging post. That would also make sense as I'm in KY with some snow and freezing cold temperatures. Maybe I'm just panicking! :)

My small crab tank is a ghost town and it made me worrisome too till I found that out.
