Luis changed into a gorgeous striped turbo!

I snapped some pictures because I knew that if I liked the shell, Luis would discard it in under ten minutes, because crabs are perverse that way.

Sure enough, she's spotting a boring brown number now.

That's an awesome picture. Looks professional

and my crabs are like that too, except strawberry, he has a beautiful orange tapestry turbo that matches his red color.

Thanks! I'm generally a terrible photographer.

My smallest crab, Aster, just executed a totally bizarre kamikaze move. She made her way to the edge of the second level shell shop. She looked down at Luis, who was directly below for a moment... and stepped without any hesitation over the edge, hitting Luis. She then righted herself, wandered over to a Chia sprout, pulled it up, and walked away.

I feel like it was a reprisal of sorts - Luis occasionally sits atop her in the tree, tapping her shell with one leg. Luis is in no way small enough to use the shell, and Aster stays tucked up inside, so I don't worry about it.

But this seemed so much to have the character of a malicious action, I was kind of stunned by it. And she just walked away - no big deal.

That's hilarious

but to be fair, hermit crabs have compound eyes and can't really see down.

I dunno man, she peered right over the edge - her eyes talks were pointed down. I think a jury would convict her.

So I changed out a whole like 20 something shells yesterday and put in a new batch. I swear, I'm pretty certain I have an addiction to these beautiful natural shells

. Well, looks like Kelp went shell shopping last night and dropped the little green turbo for this one

Again, ONLY way I can tell it's Kelp is because he always goes back to his spot at the top behind the coco wall

I guess I never really though of how weird it is, but my PP strawberry is my biggest crab and only hides in the small cocohut that he can barely fit in. On top of that, my 2nd biggest squeezes in there with him! The big spacy hut stays empty 24/7. Its been months since anyone was in there... I wonder why. Sometimes the small hut is crammed full and the others just pile up around it. I seriously never thought about how odd that really is
