So this morning I found my two violas (Castiel and Dean) escaping.... One was out of the tank and the other was waiting their turn.

Holy escaping crabs ryry! Time to beef up security! I will say I love the brotherhood between those two. If you're gonna get in trouble, might as well do it with a friend!

I know! I'm surprised my littlest pp wasn't right there with him! He loves to get into crazy places. Those violas love to climb for sure. The ONE night I forget to put the book on the top they get out lol.

I have a screen lid over my tank even with my glass lids. Even the small spots for ventilation can't be used as escape routes with the screen lid over it all. I even bought locking clips that I can use if I need to. Crabs are smart, but I am prepared!

Wow that's awesome :D

Last night they were all up and running around! Crabby finally found the bubbler pools and Biscuit changed her shell after I went to bed, she was checking it out for about 30 minutes before I went to bed. She was shaking it a lot rather than only doing the normal things...? She did do the normal checks but I don't know why she was shaking it for 30 min lol, anyway here's some pics!

Biscuit is in the middle of this shot, this was taken before she changed her shell

Too right! I swear they lie in wait for me even though I check to make sure where everyone is before lifting up the screen lid  . First a quick looksee prior to lifting off the plastic and glass aquarium lid and then another looksee to make sure no one is attached to the screen top. Almost never fails that Felix (of course, Felix, Mr. King of the Tank) is hanging at the top of one of the vines, in the shadows, and quickly throws a leg over the edge of the tank as soon as the lid is off. Where he thinks he's going and why he'd want to go is a mystery. I'm sure the crabs are aware of the mouse tank on the table beneath their shelf so maybe he wants to get down there to pay a visit

I have 5 crabs in almost identical green turbos now. How the heck am I supposed to tell any of them apart?! :(

I got some new shells on Friday and finally got them put in today. Mario is obsessively checking them out. Earlier he was eating dinner, tried to leave the food dish, lost his balance and rolled out of sight. Sigh.

Oh, AND my UTH pooped out on me yesterday, so I had to do a fast order for an Ultratherm. I've been wanting one anyway, but that was a hit to the bank account. Fortunately my tank is holding at 80 with my 2 heat bulbs so they should be fine until it gets here.

I agree, this thread is awesome!
Crabbing since July 2014! 75 gallon with 12 Purple Pinchers.
